We have our car and trailer packed with bikes, camping gear, and all the snacks. We are headed west from North Carolina. The major stops planned are the Grand Canyon, Zion National Park, Yellowstone, and Mt. Rushmore. From there we will decide which route we will take back home. Several days of packing and ingenuity from Steven, we have what we believe to be all we need. We have picked state parks along the way that we will stop at and set up camp.
Let’s be real, you can only stare at the scenery you are driving through for a minimal amount of time. 5-8 hours in a car a day is quite a bit of time. Each kiddo has a word search, hidden pictures, and logic puzzle book. This will keep them entertained for several hours.

We also love the Wikki Stix. Each kiddo has a package of those. https://amzn.to/3Nv1Kz4

Our oldest kiddo’s masterpiece that is currently on the window in the back seat.
They also have books to read both hard copies and on their tablets. They will also have the opportunity to watch a movie or play a game for a bit on their tablets.
Now to keep everyone nourished, because a hangry kiddo or adult is not fun, especially in the tight quarters of a car or tent.
For breakfast we intend to eat most meals at the campsite before either hiking at the state park or getting in the car to travel to our next destination. We have packed eggs (this versatile breakfast food can be put on a bagel, in a tortilla, or scrambled with a piece of toast), instant oatmeal, cereal with small almond milk containers, bagels and cream cheese, and cinnamon raisin toast. We packed our toaster (which at electrical sites can be plugged into the outlet or we also have a car convertor), griddle, and pots and pans to put over a fire.
Lunch will be eaten on the road or at the campsite depending on where we are. We pack bread, peanut butter, jelly, crackers, cheese, and all the snacks. I make peanut butter and jelly sandwiches in the car or they can eat crackers and cheese. We put snack items (goldfish, popcorners, cheeze-its, wheat thins, ect.) in a cup that we reuse. We have raisins, crasins, applesauce cups, and bananas. We also have granola bars, z-bars, and peanut butter crackers.
Dinner we plan to mostly cook at the campsite. We brought canned soups, stuff for pasta and marinara sauce, macaroni and cheese, grilled cheese items, and of course smores.
Our first stop will be in Alabama. Here is to safe travels and limited potty breaks.
