To say this place was awesome, is an understatement. Beautiful scenery and abundant wildlife. Picture overload coming.

Now the heat was no joke and it did take us a little longer to set up camp, as the kiddos were a bit sluggish. Nonetheless, it did get set up.

Dinner consisted of mashed potatoes, corn, baked beans, and canned soup cooked on the outdoor stove.

We decided to hike after dinner to the top of a canyon to watch the sunset.

The sunset was stunning.

Then we did a little river bed walking.

The kiddos did a few sparklers in celebration of the 4th of July. Then we were off to bed.

The next morning we went on a little walk and ran into a bison herd. We just sat and watched their herd travel cross the road.

Sunflowers at sunrise

The prairie dogs were the cutest. We could have sat and watched them all day.

If you can catch em, you can keep em.

The boys had the pleasure of showering with a scorpion in the bathhouse. (Don’t worry, no human was harmed.)

Why did the snake cross the road while we were driving. To get to the other side.

Then saw more bison.

This campsite looks reserved.
Then we headed out. So long Texas. Here we come New Mexico.
