Party of 6

Adventuring and traveling with a family of 6

Stop 5: Grand Canyon National Park

So if I am being honest, I always wanted to see the Grand Canyon, but just thought it would be a neat hole in the ground. The magnitude of the Grand Canyon is indescribable and pictures do not do it justice, but I will do my best.

First of all, when we checked in, we were greeted by elk and they were everywhere in the campground.

Our campsite, such a beautiful campground.

Elk at our campground.

We got our bikes off the trailer for the first time this trip. The kids were pumped to ride their bikes around the campground. The first night we rode our bikes to the Grand Canyon Visitor Center to view the South Rim of the Canyon.

Their faces (and Steven and my faces) were in awe as we saw the Grand Canyon for the first time.

The next morning we got up and moved camp to another campsite in the same loop.

Then we rode our bikes to Verkamp’s Visitor Center in the Grand Canyon.

Our kiddos did a Ranger program about the endangered California condor.

They did other activities in their Junior Ranger books and earned their Junior Ranger badge for the South Rim Grand Canyon.

More pictures from the South Rim, but from the Vercamp Visitors Center.

We then headed back to our camp.

Later in the evening we made popcorn for an evening snack.

The boys slept in hammocks. Good morning!

After we packed up camp, we set off on a hike through the Grand Canyon to Ooh Aah Point.

We made it to Ooh Aah Point!

Then we got in the car to head to our next destination, however we stopped at several lookout points as we drove out of the canyon for miles before exiting Grand Canyon National Park going through the East Rim.

More lookout points as we drove out of the Grand Canyon.

After we drove out of the Grand Canyon we stopped and tried Native American fry bread. It was super tasty.

Now we head to Zion National Park.
