Stop 9: Yellowstone National Park

Yellowstone National Park had a plethora of animals to see and several Wow! moments along the way. This park is also massive. It can take hours to get through.

Our campsite.

The first stop of course was Old Faithful.

A few photos from our way back to our campsite for the evening.

We took a desire line from a pull out to see what was in the meadow. We heard a rustling in the brush and tried to see what was in there, but couldn’t find anything. A few of us went back to the car. Steve and Izzy then spotted this spikey guy. So, then we all got out to take the trail to find him, but couldn’t spot him again. Went back to the car only to find him by our car. First animal spotted at Yellowstone was a porcupine.

We are going on a bear hunt. We are going to catch a big one. We got up early and were off to go spot animals at Yellowstone.

It didn’t take long. We spotted a bear.

We took a trail along the river that would lead us to many adventures.

As we were walking the lake we came across this big fella. We kept going along the river and saw a few fly fishers and had a really close encounter with a bison that was recorded on Steven’s phone. (More to that story.)

Came back to this area on the river that was coming from a small waterfall. The kids were playing in the river moving logs and rocks. Ry asked Steven to help him move a log, which Steve happily went to do with his phone in his hand. You can imagine what happens next. Somewhere in the Yellowstone River is Steven’s phone.

We tried damming up the spillway to at least find his phone for the SIM card.

The look of defeat.

Nonetheless, we stopped and had a picnic at the top of a mountain and pressed on.

The kiddos earned their Junior Ranger badges for Yellowstone National Park.

Next we headed to the mud volcano area and it certainly did not disappoint. It was a bit smelly though.

Just a bison enjoying the mud volcano.

We took a trail near the mud volcano.

Jovie’s sour face.

Another bison on the trail. This big fella just about took out a guy walking by.

It is wild that this whole national park is on a volcano.

We saw a few elk on our way back to camp.

That is a wrap for Yellowstone National Park. Very neat park. Defiantly a park we will visit again. Onto the next adventure.
