Party of 6

Adventuring and traveling with a family of 6

Historic Ancient Greece

Up, up, and away. Seeing and hearing the Greek language on the plane was pretty wild.

There are orange trees everywhere, which was just cool to see.

They next day after a refreshing night’s sleep we headed out to explore many ancient Greek sites in Athens, Greece.

We started our day with a new treat called Vafflaki, which was a waffle on a stick.

The Acropolis area was so unreal to see in person. The first stop was a monument most likely built to honor the muses called the Philopappos Monument.

Next up was the Odeion of Herodes Atticus. It was a venue used for musical performances and lectures.

We then walked to the Athena Parthenon. The famous monument built for the goddess Athena with so much more history than I imagined.

We had a few photos ops with some ancient soldiers.

It was then time for a lunch break. The food in Greece so far has been my favorite. A good Greek salad, tzatziki sauce, and pita bread. Everyone enjoyed their meal.

We then went to the Acropolis Museum. The basement is an uncovered archeological dig site. Inside was full of artifacts from the Acropolis. It was so neat to see recovered artifacts and pieces of the Parthenon and other monuments up close. It also had the most staff and security I think I have ever seen in a museum.

We made a quick stop at the Temple of Olympian Zues.

We then made a stop for a Greek sweet treat called Lukumaaee. They were super tasty.

Our last stop in Athens was the orginal modern Olympic stadium. We learned the history of the Olympics, the kids ran the track, and we walked the steep marble stairs of the spectator area.

On our way back to our AirBNB we came across a carving of Pan and a pretty Greek church.

On a side note: there are cats everywhere.
