The Caldwells are on the move again. This time we headed to the Black Forest of Germany. The Grimm Brothers (who are from Germany) got their inspiration for the folk tale Hansel and Gretel from the Black Forest. Our mission though was to find a cuckoo clock. The orginal cuckoo clock comes from the Black Forest region of Germany in Triberg. We were successfull in our mission, but unfortunately I didn’t take a picture of the clock we chose.

We then visited the town of Triberg. We went to the Triberg Waterfall, which is Germany’s tallest waterfall. It was absolutely gorgeous. We had lunch at a small local restaurant and had Black Forest cake.

We then headed to Schwyz, Switzerland. Even after living in Alaska and seeing Denali, seeing the Swiss Alps was breathtaking. They also just happened to have an out of season record snow fall. Our Alaskan born pups loved it. Getting to our AirBnB was an experience in itself. Our plan was to check in and then go grab a bite to eat. But once we trecked up the mountain there was no going back. So, we had a dinner of snacks and a game of Phase 10 all circled on the floor together. Oh, did I mention our AirBnB was hostile style. It was an awesome AirBnB though and they had goats!

We then headed down the mountain after the “road” had been plowed in the morning for some Swiss chocolate. We had a breakfast of chocolate chip bread from the chocolate shop.

The weather pattern, because of the mountain range, is wild. We went through a very long tunnel. When we started it was snow covered, on the other side of the tunnel, there was minimal snow and lots of green.
