We began our day at the famous architectural mistake of the Tower of Pisa, the bell tower of the nearby cathedral. It was built on unstable ground, therefore it began to lean. Architects reinforced the structure so it is now stable.

We then headed for the Tuscan city of Florence. Florence is known as the birthplace of the Renaissance and famous figures such as DaVinci, Leonardo, and Medici. We began by taking in the beautiful scenary of the city.

We went to the Florence Cathedral that was designed by Brunelleschi and has the fresco painting “The Last Judgment” on the ceiling.

Next, we walked the Piazza della Signoria. This open area houses several replica statues and the Fountain of Neptune. The replica of Michelangelo’s David statue stands at the location the orginal statue was at before it was moved to the Academmia Galery. No leaves on these statues.

We enjoyed a delicious Italian lunch. The kiddos had more pizza.

We then headed to our AirBnB in the small town of Sant’Angelo. It was such a cute town. The town has a fairy tale trail of painted murals. The map was in Italian, so we did a lot of guessing of the fairy tales.

We then went to the only place to eat for a snack because we had a late and big lunch. The owners kept bringing out food to try and a “small” charcuterie board.

After Izzy and Steven’s morning run, we stopped in the Cafe in the morning for coffee before headed onto our next adventure.
