Party of 6

Adventuring and traveling with a family of 6

Taking on Our Newest Adventure

Party of 6 headed out to Symphony Lake in Eagle River, Alaska. Only you can’t get to this lake just by pulling up to it in your car.

We donned our hiking packs and hit the trail. Only this time, the hiking packs were legitimately full. The kids each carried their sleeping bag, extra clothes, their food, their water, and any other items they wanted to bring.

We filtered water from the glacier fed stream.

The scenery is stunning.

Some posing along the way.

It is 6 miles from the trailhead to Sympony Lake. The last mile is through boulders, well at least it felt like boulders.

Fun fact: the the lake was actually formed when a massive mud slide occurred on the side of the Chugiak Mountains creating a pit that filled up. Thus forming Sympony and Eagle Lakes.

We set up camp and then headed down by the river to have dinner. There’s nothing like an MRE.

We saw some wildlife when we went exploring around our camping area. We saw a ground squirrel and beavers.

After admiring the beautiful sunrise in the morning, we packed up camp, put on our packs, and hit the trail to hike the 6 miles back. Our shoulders were definitely feeling the burn.

After making it past the boulders on our way back, we stopped for round 2 of MRE meals.

Everyone did great and worked hard. We are excited to keep working toward adding more miles and pushing limits.

Ry coming in to the finish.
